If you drive through my home area of Manchester, Northenden, the view isn't great.
The high street is lined with nail bars, hairdressers, takeaways... all the apparent 'essentials' of modern living.
But if you come down the river paths it's a completely different story.
The church is St Wilfred's. Very pretty.
is always the way... get near water and nature kicks it up a notch!

It looks very nice indeed down your way and in that photo it looks almost like it is a painting and also is that where you like to go for your running?

It is. I run down the river a couple of miles, round some woods and then stagger back.
I love rivers.

You are right Deana, when the main street turns into one that has carry-out shops, charity shops, £1 shops and bookies you realise that there is something very wrong.

We have all of them too but there is a ray of hope, a fruit and veg shop opened last year and we have a fortnightly farmers' market.

The river is lovely - I try to wander around there as often as poss. And attempt to avoid getting stuck in the sand - usually unsuccessfully.

Ah yes, those attempts at stopping the paths wearing away are a bit annoying. They've tried woodbark further up but that turns into a quagmire when it rains heavily.
