Ever fallen out of love...

by deana24 @ 2008-04-22 - 08:29:00

... with a tv character you used to think was just the greatest?

I used to love Scrubs. Thought JD was just the nicest little neurotic. Newbie. Funny.

And then - just like that. Hate him.

Well not quite just like that. He said something and I thought about it and I just thought less of him.

And then, before I knew it, all those little things were irking me. And then annoying me. And then making me get up and walk away from the television.

What did he do? It's the episode where the social worker is in the MRI machine and he wants to ask her out, and she sounds great, but he doesn't know what she looks like and he says, words to the effect:

"God, but what if she's an uggo. I can't go out with an uggo."

And that was it. The sliver of ice in my heart that grew and grew till it froze him out. Now I can't look at him without thinking "you sad, vain idiot".

Thank god for Dr Cox.

I don't know whether it's just me, but I'm finding Scrubs has lost its edge somehow. It used to be so funny.... now it's just vaguely amusing... oh well... :-/

I want more Jordan. Jordan is my role model.

Good choice. ;)

So I'm not alone in my "JD: who the hell do you think you are-ing?". What's good on digie-box level tv these days then? I need something. Gavin and Tracy? what's that like?

I feel in love with Erin from "farscape" and Claudia Black the actress who played her in general. Still there though.................

sigh........

Is that the Aussie one with the blue woman?

Yep, Erin was the dark haired one in black.

Perhaps it's the different writers each tweaking characters to move story lines along...

Even my teens have remarked on it.

Well they can stop it, it's making me not want to watch it.

Don't watch it, but I think what you are describing is something like what happened with MASH - I wish I could remember the phrase...where they had an episode which was not funny & the series went downhill from there - and it was reckoned that every long running comedy reaches that stage. It was called something like the white water rafting moment...I'm sure someone will put me right

I await 'someone' with bated breath... I love a smart-alec bit of jargon and "white water rafting moment" sounds good to me.

I used to watch MASH. If I recall correctly it seemed to get heavy after the time the main character, hopeless with names, had a break-down after someone had to kill their baby to keep it quiet, it works apparently. I can't remember much after that episode.

Butterflies did the same, used to love that, then it went all heavy with the affair business.

Thank goodness The Muppet Show stayed good till the end.

I've never watched it - but now I hate him too, the uggo-hearted cad!

I'd be tempted to point out his brother is far more attractive, but that would be mean!
